Geographic Information Systems Credits: 2. Course
Description: GIS concepts, surveying and
mapping inputs in GIS development, comparison of GIS systems, and
applications in the natural and physical sciences, engineering and planning. SUR 3393L
Geographic Information Systems Laboratory Credits: 1; Coreq: SUR 3393. Course
Description: Geographic information systems, image processing, remote sensing and
digitizing. Course Features:
Students will buy a textbook from ESRI which will include a 6-month
student license to ArcGIS 9.2 (included on CD's in the book). The book will have 9 laboratory
exercises including the required datasets. Students will watch lectures
over WebCT and do the ESRI labs, uploading the resulting files over WebCT for
grading. Registration Instructions: 1. You must be a registered UF student to
take this class, however, there is a shorthand process for
“non-degree” students.
